SCROLL DOWN

Agapolis

Agapolis

“Agape is an overflowing love which is purely spontaneous, unmotivated, groundless, and creative, in which the individual seeks not his own good, but the good of his neighbor. Agape does not begin by discriminating between worthy and unworthy people. It begins by loving others for their sakes.” –Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Agapolis is a home, community, and gathering place for people contributing to the evolution of consciousness, culture, and systems. Our mission is to put unconditional love into action by contributing toward a sustainable, connected, beautiful world that works for everyone.

We offer a co-created space to come together with joy and humility, align with our deepest intentions, support each other in community, and expand ourselves into our work of purpose on the planet.

Our 5 Pillars

Pillars

Our 5 Pillars

We believe that each of these pillars is essential to a thriving, sustainable world. Agapolis is a place to live, prototype, and share them with the world. They organize our actions and priorities as we cultivate a living, growing, emergent ecosystem, designed through ongoing conversations among members of the community.

1. Community

“The next Buddha will be a community”
- Thich Nhat Hanh
We envision a world where community re-emerges as a centerpiece of human life, revitalizing our well-being and resilience, individually and collectively. In community, we inspire, encourage, and challenge each other to grow. The bonds we form through laughter, tears, sweat, and celebration help us reach our potential, and remind us of our inherent interconnectedness. We aim to represent the world around us, reflecting the diversity of people and perspectives that will be present at the table of the future, and support life at all stages, where children, adults, and elders can support each other.

2. Consciousness

“Presence is the essence of the self, just as protoplasm is the essence of the body.”  – AH Almaas
We envision a worldwide evolution of consciousness (that considers not only “me” but also “we"), one that contributes to a better life overall and that may well be necessary for humanity’s ongoing survival. We practice presence and open-ended curiosity, whether through ancient contemplative practices, paying attention to the patterns of nature, or showing up fully in our everyday interactions. Through conscious community, we deepen our awareness, learn to translate insight into action, and savor life together.

3. Purposeful Work

“Make the world work for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offense or disadvantage of anyone.” – Buckminster Fuller
We envision a world that works for everyone, and we are dedicated to manifesting it through  our day-to-day work and (when possible) careers. Agapolis is a place for people doing great work across sectors, to incubate ideas, find inspiration, teach each other, and collaborate. We believe every person has a gift to offer, and that, together, humanity can transform our world’s economic, democratic, technological, media, health, justice, and other major systems to work for all. The future has not yet been written.

4. Art

“Art is not a thing — it is a way.”  - Elbert Hubbard
We envision a world in which art inspires the transformation of our collective consciousness, culture, and global systems. Art can make sense of our collective moment, disrupt paradigms, amplify unheard voices, and inspire new perspectives and collective action. Through art, we explore the gifts and edges of human creativity and give expression to the human experience. Creating together builds our bonds in community, drops us out of our minds into our hearts, and opens new roads of creation.

5. Nature & Sustainability

“Too often, people think that solving the world’s problems is based on conquering the earth, rather than touching the earth, touching ground.” - Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
We envision a world in which human systems regenerate, rather than deplete, the resources and capacities of future generations. We see humanity and nature as inextricably interdependent. We believe in reweaving communities with ecological principles and learning from the nature around us. From permaculture to ecotherapy, we work to steward the land and play a role in the great turning from ecological crisis to a life-affirming society.
